FAQ About Morganhaus Standard Schnauzers

  • Who are Morganhaus Standard Schnauzers?
We are a very small, strictly family-run project.  My husband, Lee, is a retired geologist. He does the feeding and takes care of me, Linda.  I used to be a nurse, but am now chief cleaner-upper, groomer, trainer, midwife, etc.. I love it.  Our son, Ollie, runs the farm and is sometimes drafted into heavy-duty work like posing with puppies, putting hay in the dog houses and putting up with dogs in the house. We have lots of grandchildren who are great with the dogs and puppies and will be decorating this web site frequently.  And we have 2 near-grandchildren, Jessica and Tracy, who help me with the dogs. You will  see Jessica's photo on this web site frequently.

  • Where are we located?
We live on a cattle farm in the Arkansas. Please see "Contact Us" for photo & specifics.
  • What are our breeding goals?
We are trying to raise excellent, healthy puppies with loving temperaments primarily as fine pets for individuals and families.

  • What are our adoption policies?
Most of our puppies may be adopted as "pets" with "limited registration rights".  (See "Terms & Abbreviations".)  Occasionally, a particularly fine puppy may be adopted with "full registration rights" to selected prospective puppy parents.  The price for such a puppy will, of course, reflect that privilege.

  • Why on earth do we raise dogs?
(Probably because we are completely out of our minds!)  Be that as it may:

    1.  We love dogs. We can't imagine how we could ever live without dogs -- or how anyone else can either.  Poor things!
    2.  The relationship we have between our mother dogs and myself during the birth process and post-natal period is a wondrous thing.   Coming from a nursing background this is right down my alley.
    3.  We think that the synonym for "happiness" is "puppies"; they make us laugh so much.
    4.  We have met so many wonderful people who have adopted our puppies.  They have become a part of our extended family and make us more than we were before having come to know them.

  • Why do we raise Standard Schnauzers?
For several years we enjoyed raising German Shepherds.  However, we and our shepherds are not getting any younger.  So we started thinking about raising a smaller breed of dogs.  A while back my husband's special companion, Schatz, a Miniature Schnauzer, passed away of old age.  My husband wanted another dog like him, but knowing the Schnauzer personality, he wanted one larger and more able to defend himself should the need arise.  (Schnauzers do not recognize that some dogs are larger than they are!)  So he adopted Monte, our male Standard Schnauzer.  I had loved our daughter's Miniature Schnauzer, Sasha, so there was simply nothing to do but adopt a female Standard Schnauzer too.  Then . . . you see where this is going.
Are we a member of the AKC?
    Yes.

  • Are we a "puppy mill"?
Under no circumstances could we be considered a "puppy mill".  See "Contact Us" .
  • What registration rights do we grant?  See "Abbreviations & Terminology".
  • Do we plan to adopt and breed more Standard Schnauzers?
Well . . . maybe just one more.

Well, that's enough about us.  We hope you enjoy the web site.  I will be adding to it frequently, so please remember to "bookmark"  the site or add it to your "favorites" and come back again.  If you have any other questions, just e-mail us at stable@arkwest.com    .   Thanks for visiting.
